Technical Talk on Quantum Computing

With the blessings of Pujya Swamiji and support of Principal, and the guidance of Dr. Gopalakrishnan M T, Professor & HOD of AI & ML, SJBIT, On 26th October 2024, the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning organized an insightful technical talk on Quantum Computing.

The talk targeted 5th-semester AI and ML students eager to gain insights into quantum computing. Mr. Phanindra Babu, an intern at Mentorlink and a former intern at Pegasystems, shared his expertise by discussing core principles, current trends, and practical applications of quantum computing. He explained the concept of a qubit, the fundamental unit of quantum information, and highlighted its unique properties, such as superposition and entanglement. Engaging students with live demonstrations, Mr.Phanindra Babu made complex ideas accessible, reinforcing the concepts through hands-on experiences. The session also covered important quantum algorithms and their significance in solving computational challenges faced by classical systems. Students participated in the Quantum AI Game, a simulation that illustrated how qubits process information differently than traditional computers. Mr. Phanindra Babu provided an overview of industries applying quantum computing, particularly in machine learning, and discussed the intersection of quantum algorithms with AI. The interactive session encouraged enthusiastic participation, with students asking questions and engaging with the material.
