5-Day FDP Culmination “Current Technological Developments in Additive Manufacturing
With the divine blessings of Pujya Swamiji and unwavering support from our esteemed Principal, the Department of Mechanical Engineering proudly announces the successful conclusion of a Five Days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Current Technological Developments in Additive Manufacturing.” This enlightening journey took place from 8th to 12th January 2024 and was generously funded by the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing (NCAM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
Inauguration Highlights: The inaugural function, graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Mrs Akshatha Dayananda, Technical Lead at Wipro 3D, set the tone for the FDP. Principal Sir delivered a powerful presidential address, emphasising the pivotal role of 3D printing in today’s manufacturing landscape. Mr. Santhosh and Mr Sai Rakesh, Senior Managers at Wipro 3D, led the program as resource persons. Mr. Sreenath, CEO of EMI Product, delivered an insightful talk followed by a captivating hands-on session on 3D printing.
Knowledge Unveiling:
- Day Two: Dr. Raju B S and Dr. Basavaraju S, Professors from REVA University and UVCE, enriched participants with sessions on materials for additive manufacturing and advanced tools. The day culminated with engaging hands-on sessions.
- Day Three: Mr Sreenath Polackal, CEO of EMI Product, took centre stage, unravelling the importance of metallurgy, advancements in additive manufacturing, and the intriguing world of reverse engineering. The day concluded with hands-on experiences in cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies.
- Day Four: Mr. Sai Rakesh, Engineer at Wipro 3D, took participants on a fascinating journey through a session and an exclusive industrial visit to Wipro 3D at Peenya, Bengaluru. Witnessing 3D printing machines in action on live projects was an awe-inspiring experience.
- Day Five: The final day saw the return of Chief Guest Mrs Akshatha Dayananda, who delivered compelling sessions on research and innovation in AM, the future of additive manufacturing, and its applications in biomedical fields. The afternoon session, graced by our Principal and a team of doctors from GIMS, explored the remarkable possibilities in additive manufacturing for orthopaedic, dental, and other medical applications. The program concluded on a high note with the distribution of well-deserved certificates.
Culminating with Gratitude and Growth: We extend heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries, resource persons, and participants for making this FDP a resounding success. This journey of knowledge and innovation is a testament to our commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
